At such a moment, it would be a good idea to pull out an old Air Defence T-shirt from the closet, gather a crowd of kids around you, and, like with an old photo album, tell them about the role of Air Defence in those years, what the Air Defence Mobile Fire Groups did, and what the print with the rows of air targets on the back means. This T-shirt is a part of our history that is being written right now. People in all corners of the country, wrapped in a blanket and standing between two walls, hiding in basements and subways, or ducking down from explosions in the street, put their faith in Ukrainian air defence and asked ‘higher powers’ to protect them. And for the third year in a row, these higher powers wearing pixel have been doing a tremendous job 24/7 to ensure that as many Ukrainians as possible hear the air raid warning go silent and see that all russian missiles and shaheds fail to hit residential buildings and become mere numbers in the reports of the air defence forces. It is about these ‘higher powers’ wearing pixel that we have created a new men’s AIR DEFENCE T-shirt that speaks for itself. The front features a print with enemy ‘shaheds’ and a vehicle of the Air Defence Mobile Fire Groups against the background of a realistic radar that will glow at night. One chest, there are lines of a gentle lullaby «Спи, маленький, баю-бай. Всіх баранчиків спіймай» (‘Sleep, little one, rock-a-bye. Catch all the little lambs’). On the back, there are the same morning reports with downed enemy targets as a reminder that everything will be fine.

From day one, fighter pilots from Vasylkiv courageously took down dozens of Russian aircraft over Kyiv, notably destroying an IL-76 transport plane attempting to deploy enemy paratroopers near the capital. In less than three weeks, they downed at least 20 hostile aircraft. Honored for their heroism in Ukraine’s darkest hours, the brigade received the "Courage and Valor" award and later earned the legendary "Ghost of Kyiv" title.

The 18th Separate Army Aviation Brigade was established in 2015, making it the fourth aviation unit within Ukraine’s Ground Forces. In its relatively short history, the brigade has carried out so many heroic missions that it’s hard to keep count.
During the ATO and JFO operations, the brigade conducted medical evacuations and logistics missions along the entire frontline. After February 24, 2022, the aviators from Poltava were deployed to the most intense combat zones — in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions — and became especially known for their role in liberating Zmiinyi Island and carrying out a one-of-a-kind breakthrough into occupied Mariupol.
The brigade bears the name of Igor Sikorsky — the most famous helicopter designer of Ukrainian origin — but it’s known across the world not for its name, but for its actions.
The T-shirt features combat helicopters flying above the silhouettes of spoil tips, with a subtle yet powerful inscription: “Sons of Fortune.” It’s a name that fits them perfectly, because how else can you explain the extraordinary things they accomplished at Azovstal?

За свій досить юний вік вона провела стільки героїчних операцій, яким вже важко вести лік. В часи проведення АТО/ООС бригада виконувала медичні евакуації та логістичні завдання уздовж усієї лінії фронту, після 24 лютого 2022 року полтавські авіатори виконували бойові завдання у найгарячіші точки Харківщини, Миколаївщини, Луганщини та Донеччини, а особливо відзначились у звільненні Зміїного та унікальній операції з прориву в окупований Маріуполь. Частина носить ім’я найвідомішого конструктора вертольотів українського походження Ігоря Сікорського, але знана на увесь світ саме своїми діями, а не іменем.

18-та окрема бригада армійської авіації – це ще одні герої цієї війни, про яких недостатньо сказано. Щоправда, вони не носять плащі – їх можна впізнати за формою ЗСУ. Надскладні військові операції, порятунок людей з Азовсталі і ще багато того, що з часом стане відомим – все це заради того, щоб ми могли бачити український прапор на фоні чистого неба.
