The MiG-29 was the first in the Ukrainian Air Force to deploy Western anti-radiation missiles. Relentlessly, they shot down Russian aircraft, notably grounding even an IL-76 MD. In less than 20 days of intense combat, the brigade destroyed at least 20 enemy planes, earning the "For Courage and Bravery" distinction, followed by the honorary name—"Ghost of Kyiv."
