Like many borrowed terms, it entered Ukrainian through Russian and became common in sewing, retail, and advertising. Linguists emphasize that even phrases like “women’s pantsuit” should be expressed in proper Ukrainian as “костюм-штани”. So it’s time to leave “ladies’ bryuki” in the past.
