AH_1ddebf80-870f-11ef-9bca-00155dcd4802HUNTER says the story behind his helmet began with a simple patch of a Cossack image that happened to catch his eye. He liked the look with the moustache and oseledets so much that the 12th Brigade pilot decided to make his own helmet in a similar style. He decided to paint only on the protective mask, which seems to be designed to look like a Cossack moustache, and picked a few spots on the helmet for the same patch and national symbols. He borrowed the idea of decorating the helmet with themed patches from American pilots, where it has long been one of the established traditions.

At such a moment, it would be a good idea to pull out an old Air Defence T-shirt from the closet, gather a crowd of kids around you, and, like with an old photo album, tell them about the role of Air Defence in those years, what the Air Defence Mobile Fire Groups did, and what the print with the rows of air targets on the back means. This T-shirt is a part of our history that is being written right now. On the front, we depicted enemy ‘shaheds’ and the vehicle of Air Defence Mobile Fire Groups against the background of a realistic radar, which has a phosphorous coating and glows at night. The 18th Separate Army Aviation Brigade was established in 2015, making it the fourth aviation unit within Ukraine’s Ground Forces. In its relatively short history, the brigade has carried out so many heroic missions that it’s hard to keep count.
During the ATO and JFO operations, the brigade conducted medical evacuations and logistics missions along the entire frontline. After February 24, 2022, the aviators from Poltava were deployed to the most intense combat zones — in Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions — and became especially known for their role in liberating Zmiinyi Island and carrying out a one-of-a-kind breakthrough into occupied Mariupol.
The brigade bears the name of Igor Sikorsky — the most famous helicopter designer of Ukrainian origin — but it’s known across the world not for its name, but for its actions.
The T-shirt features combat helicopters flying above the silhouettes of spoil tips, with a subtle yet powerful inscription: “Sons of Fortune.” It’s a name that fits them perfectly, because how else can you explain the extraordinary things they accomplished at Azovstal?

This beast easily catches up with and destroys absolutely all types of missiles used by our enemy. It works miracles where other air defence systems are helpless: for example, destroying hypersonic Kinzhal missiles, which was impossible before the Patriot was adopted. Its missiles can reach more than two kilometres upwards and up to 160 kilometres off into the distance, allowing the Ukrainian army to hit the nooks and crannies in the occupiers’ rear and bury the enemy in hell. On the front of the T-shirt, we placed a drawing of a missile and the SAM’s huge name, and on the back, there is a decorative trident.
